Part 2
Someone knocked on my door. I got up and it was my brother. He looked very excited and energetic.
“Want to come with me and Daddy downstairs and look around the lobby?”
I got very excited. Wow, a new place to have an adventure. Of course I have to come with my family to see this amazing place.
I quickly got changed. I ran out, got the suite key card, and ran out the door. I waited for my brother and my dad to come out. They came out and we all ran to the elevator. A place like this looked amazing to explore. This is why I always liked traveling. You always get to see new places and to explore and have fun.
The lobby was filled with a bunch of people, I never knew all these people actually came here and lived here. I saw a lot of different people. This place was amazing, I wish I could stay in this place forever. It would be so cool to live in a hotel. I liked major cities, except for the smoking and gambling and trash. I was so glad this place didn’t have those. This place had a bunch of stores, restaurants, and a lot of attractions. I was so happy I went with my dad and Renzo.
I began to daydream, I imagined if I actually stayed here and lived in this hotel. Being familiar with the place, knowing everyone here, helping others and seeing amazing things every single day, wow, that would be the life. While I was staring into space, I ran into an employee. The man looked very angry. The look on his face made me feel bad I bumped into him. He looked furious. I was a bit scared.
“Excuse me, ma'am, but you can’t just run into someone like that!”
I sensed a bit of gay in the man. I began to chuckle. He looked at me furious and yelled at me again.
“Don’t laugh at me. Its very impolite to do that here!”
Its very impolite to do that here. I remembered something that my dad told me on the taxi ride. The people at the airport said they were very strict here. You have to be very nice and kind all the time. One little mistake and you’re out of here. I felt my stomach sink in.
My brother looked at my face. He knew I was worried. He yelled at me, “Why are you always so nervous?” I gave him a dirty look, telling him to knock it off. Come on little boy, this is now a vacation, and I don’t want you ruining anything. Stay out of the way, please.
A man with looked as a security guard came up to me, the employee I bumped into was behind him. The tall scary man looked furious. I felt like I needed to run.
“Them, Those two kids! Breaking the number one rule!”
He sounded like a tattle-tale from 1st grade. I glanced at Renzo. We got confused and yelled back at them.
“No… I just accidentally bumped into him because I was thinking about how amazing this hotel was.” My brother said something under his breath, I couldn't hear it, but I'm positive he added the word gay.
Renzos words that could barely be heard led up to a fight. My dad didn’t know what to do so he went to get my mom. I thought of how stupid my dad was to leave me here with just my brother. The security guards took us before my parents could come. The scary tall man took us into a big black car. I fought and yelled, but I could't escape. I estimated that we went on a 3 hour drive. Renzo and I argued with the guard for the first hour. He yelled and us and threatened us. We gave up and just cried in the back for 2 hours. Where were we going? I wanted to go back to the amazing hotel. I still wanted to apologize to the employee my brother insulted. I wanted to go back to my parents. And out of all things, I just wanted to know where we will be going for the most part.
The 3 hours of the drive was over. I was shaking when the car stopped. My stomach started to ache. I attempted to look out the window without any pain. The windows were tinted so I couldn’t really see outside. I asked politely if I could roll down the windows, but he didn't want me to.
He yelled at us to get out of the car. We ran out, we saw a dark place. Where were we? I thought this island was all good, I didn’t know part of the island would be scary and creepy like this! What is this place?
I began to remember the nightmares I had. I thought of scary movies when I saw this place. How demotic and evil it was. How all the spirits that still lived in the haunted places would scar you for life. I just wanted to hide and get away from it all.
The tall man laughed. He was dying of laughter. His laugh was evil.
“I can tell you kids are new here," he began after calming down from laughing. "This is the dark side of the city. All the people that don’t follow the rules on the good side are sent here for the rest of your short lives. You're lucky if you're only going to be here for half your lifetime. Since you guys are around teenager age, you’re going into the juvenile delinquency. Have fun” He laughed more and more. I started to cry. I just wanted to go home now. I quickly wiped my tears when he glanced at me. I didn't want to show how much of a coward I was.
“Wait, what about our parents? What are they going to say? Take me out of this place!" I regret yelling anymore, thinking if it could get me into more trouble.
The man stopped laughing, he smiled at me creepily.
“We already informed them. If they can bail you out, then you may leave, but that has never happened here before."
Sigh, I give up.
The man said one thing before letting us enter the delinquency building. “Tell the lady at the office you’re their for the hotel incident.” The man gave us an aggressive glare and ran back to the dark tinted car.
Renzo and I slowly walked into the dark building. We both were very frightened about what we were going to go into. Of course anyone going to a Juvenile would be scared. We walked in and went into the office. The people in there looked depressed. I told them our names and why we were here.
“My name is Leizel and this is Renzo. We were sent here for the hotel incident…”
I felt very confused and a bit stupid. We were in here for calling a hotel employee gay just because of his voice. We sure are badass.
“Please follow me,” a scary police officer took us into a room. The room had a title on the door, Special Problems. Wow, that made me feel better, more like a special ed. The officer took out his key and opened the door slowly. My little brother and I walked in. I saw a bunch of scary and depressed faces. What is this?
As I slowly went inside the room with my brother in front of me, everyone gave me dirty looks. I got chills. I wonder what was going through Renzo's head. He's probably freaking out like me. I wanted to run away and never be seen ever again. I was too scared to be in a place with only bad people. After thinking of all the bad possible outcomes in being in here, the police yelled at the glaring faces looking toward us, mostly Renzo because he looked like the only 9 year old in here. I quickly counted how much were in here, including Renzo and I. 12.
"As always, please state your information for newcomers." the police officer slowly went in the back of the room while I wait. What do I do? Who was he exactly talking to?
After a few wandering looking faces and awkward silence, a girl finally stood up. He stated her "information" for Renzo and I, also known as the "newcomers". She was quite small. She looked around 10 or 11 and had blonde long hair. She was very pretty, I don't know why someone that looked as innocent as her would be in here. When about a few minutes past, while she was still stood up in silence, she finally talked.
"Sorry, had to think again why I was in here. I've been here for quite a long time. Well, hi there. I'm Juliet and I certainly do not want to find my Romeo in a place like this," she paused for a few brief moments. I laughed to myself in my mind. I saw what she did there. That made me feel kind of better, not really. The little blonde girl continued. "Anyways, I'm 11 years old. My parents are crazy people. They had a bunch of stuff in our house. None of my parents had jobs, and one day, I was just extremely hungry. I didn't know what to do to get money, and we never had emergency savings or anything. So one day, I found the secret place where my parents hid almost all of their "precious" belongings, and became a drug dealer. I couldn't take the starvation and I couldn't sell anything else. All the items in our home was considered garbage. In a place like Florida, people are desperate for drugs, so I just did it."
I didn't know an 11 year old could do such a thing. I wondered all these questions about her. How long did she do this without getting caught? What did her parents think? Why was she sent here instead of the local juveniles where she lived?
The class continued introducing themselves. I learned a lot of interesting things they've done to get here. It took a while, even with a class of just 12. Such a small group for a big city like this. Confusion took over my brain.
I saw 4 others girls besides Juliet. I met Alexa, Jillian, Vivian, and Sky. Alexa and Jillian were around the same age, 13. Vivian was 16 and Sky was 8. Alexa went to this rotten place just a few months ago. It was so close for school to end and she was very impatient. She ended up beating a teacher and a few of her classmates. There were a lot of witnesses, considering she was in gym with a class of 40. Jillian was the short kid with messy hair and glasses that kept falling off my big ass nose. She came here for being a drug dealer, just like Juliet. Vivian just did what any other 16 year old did, drunk driving. Sky, the innocent 8 year old, attempted to steal a diamond in Canada.
6 boys introduced themselves. Michael, Ron, Tyler, Ryan, Josh and this dude that would never reveal his real name. He had a bunch of nicknames, so we could practically call him whatever we want, but most of us called us Crabs. Michael was 13 and was bored one day, and went streaking. That same day he also scared kids at Chuckie Cheeses. Jeez people these days. Ron was an 11 year old that smoked weed. Oh cool, good for him. Tyler was 11 and Ryan was almost 14. Tyler murdered 3 people and broke into his neighbors homes. Ryan was caught for jaywalking. I could see why Tyler got in here, not much for Ryan though. Funny but stupid reason. God people in from here considered as badass for doing such "bad" things like jaywalking. Josh was a 14 year old that hated the elderly. He hated this place than anyone else in this room. He missed his girlfriend, Lauren. He described her as a skinny 11 year old. The age difference made me chuckle a bit, but I hid it in.
We were a class of 12 teenage criminals. What such a small group. I never knew teens would actually be good and stay on the good side, especially in a big city like this. I thought about it though, who would actually want to leave paradise like that anyways?
When the class finished introducing themselves, the cop yelled. “Move on now. Make these new criminals feel welcome here.” He smiled. I shivered. Before he left, he quickly turned around and said a few words. “Oh yeah, you two, introduce yourselves to these… people.” The cop hesitated when he said people. He stared at us, waiting for a response. I was socially awkward. Whenever I introduced myself, it would end horribly. Well, here goes nothing.
“My name is Leizel. I am 13. This is Lorenzo, hes 8.” I pointed at him like he broke a vase. I felt like an idiot. "We came into this... um... special delinquency place for accidentally bumping into a hotel employee and calling him gay.” I couldn't help but smirk a bit when I finished. The class stared at me for a few seconds and I sat down on an empty chair.
I quickly looked at the scary class. They all smiled. I felt embarrassed. The cop looked at me, nodded, and slammed the door. I could hear him lock the door loudly. I knew he did that on purpose so he would remind us that none of us could get out of this terrible room.
I watched as conversations continued as the police man left. All of them would occasionally look at Renzo and I, laughing afterwards. I felt like a loser. I wanted to do something to make me feel better, like self-harming, as always. Course, I couldn't do that here. I just waited until the day finally ended.
We were put in our own individual cells. A few of my little "class" explained that we all slept alone until the cold morning came. If we were lucky, we would able to talk to the people that were next to us in the next room. Happens a lot actually, but people would usually miss their chance by sleeping in.
While everyone slept early, trying to sleep early to get up early so we could talk to each other in the morning, I was up the whole night from crying and anxiety.
